Hogsback Village and bad aggressive behaviour by security

Published by administrator on

Many people enjoy walking in the forests around the Hogsback Village in the eastern Cape Province of South Africa. Some people even uproot their lives, sell up their properties in the city and go and live in hogsback Village. It seems on the face of it to be an idyllic place to live but in reality one encounters various kinds of bully. The one type of bully that I would like to write about today is the security company employed by a local forestry company who have a pronounced tendency to behave aggressively when undertaking the duty they have been tasked with by the company that hires them. Many reports have been received and even previously published on social media regarding this aggressive behavior and I myself can report that one of these vehicles quite deliberately drove far too close to me. It would seem that these people are operating with a deliberate brief to limit and inhibit the tourism potential of Hogsback Village. During the awful experience of being unfairly persecuted followed around and bullied by the local community policing forum who appear to tolerate a group of drug abusers and homophobes I also encountered what I would call passive aggression on the part of the security personnel I am talking about. A security guard made a point of behaving far too politely if you know what I mean. Implicit in his behavior was the fact that he may one day not behave politely towards me. He made an entirely over ostentatious point of parodying polite behavior rather than simply behaving normally. These people and the company that employs them are behaving in a way that violates the principles of our country and indeed of any conception of civil decency. South Africans and in particular those of us who live either by owning property or by paying rent in Hogsback Village have a right to stand up for ourselves. The nature reserve and indeed the country as a whole are a part of all of our heritage. We should not be expected to tolerate any level of intimidation and unpleasant behavior on the part of the people who own the company or their employees.
