Nature in the eyes of a South African artist

The artist spends a good deal of his time wondering what has happened to people and why they are not looking at Nature the way it really is. Climbing into the hills high above a small town gives one time to reflect. The challenge of moving across natural terrain produces a feeling of being at one with oneself and the land beneath, segmented into the usage patterns of humanity seems at last to have enough space to live. To finally allow us to be a part of the natural world. From close up the land used by humans often seems chaotic and ugly but viewed from in between the plants and high up a mountainside a sense of peace is achieved. This landscape, ‘Bush Window’ by South African artist Jeremy vanderwant is a meditative exploration of the sense of peace found in long views of Earth’s extraordinary space. The signs of humanity are subtle from up high.

Focus on peace in art, life and Nature.
Van der want art work is focussed on peace in nature because the artist feels that while close introspection and candid examination of the ugliness of the human spirit does have value, art is something that leads life. Art should not merely mirror the unfortunate condition of humanity’s failing interaction with life but rather attempt to lead our focus back to the peace and oneness that once inspired great painting. Choosing to avoid the downward spiral of introspective negativity has been a source of mental wellness and good feeling for the artist. It is hoped that the completed work produces the same for the viewer.
